ROAD TRIP Spring/Summer Collection2015

Springtime is knocking on the door and down here in the South we already let it in! On time with the blooming orangetrees, migratory birds travelling northwards and the air lightly warmed up by the sun,my New Spring/Summer Collection Road Trip is out and available in my studio!

This season of the year feels so promising to me and always awakes in me a strong desire for change, experiencing new adventures and live and enjoy life as much as posible!

When I was thinking about an inspiration of the new Collection, coming along with these feelings I found a direct connection to the 1960´s decade which was a period of profound societal change, one in which a great many politically minded individuals, who on the whole were young and educated, sought to influence the status quo.

Don´t worry, I will not write an essay about this decade now- thats something you can read at Wikipedia or in any history book.

But I want to remind you that women played an important role in this part of the history, especially in terms of gender equality and liberation of social bonds.

This is a subject which still today, 55 years later is not solved in total and worth to discuss again and again.

Let´s go back to fashion

The 1960s featured a number of diverse trends. It was a decade that broke many fashion traditions, mirroring social movements during the time.

I picked up some of these and reinterpreted them for nowadays:

The mini-skirt, short A-shaped dresses, details like front button-facings, a huge amount of colour, strong fabric prints, mismatched patterns, short bell-bottom jeans and much more.

To complete the image of the Collection, for the shooting we also used false eyelashes which were worn by women throughout the 1960s, and immitated some of the typical 1960s hairstyles.

At least I want to give you some explanations about the titel of this years Collection:

ROAD TRIP

I found a very interesting information about this theme. For sure you didn´t know that the world's first recorded long distance road trip by automobile took place in Germany in August 1888(!)when Bertha Benz, the wife of Karl Benz, the inventor of the first patented motor car, travelled from Mannheim to Pforzheim (a distance of 106km) in the third experimental Benz motor car (which had a maximum speed of 10 miles per hour) and back, with her two teenage sons Richard and Eugen, but without the consent and knowledge of her husband.

It makes me so happy and proud to find these types of information which show again and again how brave and selfconfident women are and have been always!

In its pure definition Road trip means, when a bunch of kids get in a car (most likely a VW Bus) and drive to an exotic destination (like Vegas or New Jersey).

It would have been beyond my means to travel so far,so our exotic destination was the so called Campiña, a hilly area of agriculturual use in the east of Sevilla.

There we found a desertic, disused road which was the place of scenery of this years Shooting.

Thanks to my friend Fran, the main mechanic of the company Karvan´s who is a real crack in VW-bus mechanism,we counted with an original VW-bus,year of construction 1965 as third headliner.

In total: it was really adventurous making the pictures and I am very happy with the result!

So there is nothing more to say: Have a little ROAD TRIP with me and enjoy the pictures!
